Recent studies now describe the risk of environmental pollutants that remain even after the second hand smoke has cleared. These pollutants remain on the surfaces of buildings, furniture, floors, clothing and other items exposed to smokers and are being referred to as third hand (or thirdhand) smoke.

Early research suggested there was a modest positive relationship between alcohol consumption and the risk of colorectal cancers. A recent study indicates alcohol can indeed pose an increased risk, but may also be preventive dependent upon the amount consumed.
